I open Visual Studio 2005 and start a new project. I cannot get to a windows form to add a visual basic project. I want to use crystal reports viewer to upload a crystal report I created in crystal 2008 and upload it into the visual studio windows forms. The environment I want is vb.net. I am not seeing vb.net, c# or any language. I thought these languages came bundled. Is there something I need to activate. I am asking because I did not install studio

If you are using the free Express Editions then they do not come bundled. Each language (VB.NET, C#, C++) has it's own version that has to be downloaded.

Your last statement contradicts everything you typed before though. If you opened Visual Studio 2005 (of some flavor) then you had to install Visual Studio 2005 (of some flavor).

Usually when you start Visual Studio for the first time you can select which language you are going to frequently use - VB.NET, C++, C#, F#, J# or General Settings(All). Maybe am thinking you chose F#, C++ or J#, however the languages should still appear! When clicking a new project you should see your desired language at the top under installed templates. You should then see another tab with Other languages with a little arrow to the left side, just click the arrow and you should see VB.NET or C#.

or maybe take gardner's advice if you have express edition.

When you click 'new project' expand the 'other languages' portion > select VB.NET and on the right click on 'windows application'
