Question about Wordpress?

There's a few things I want to be able to do on Wordpress but I'm not sure whether it is possible.

1. Have members each with their own profile that is viewable by others
2. Have a payment system where each member can make money (no selling)
3. Allow members to submit content and allow them control over it (e.g. edit and delete functions)
4. A rating system for members on the content submitted
5. For the rating system to be linked with the payment system

Is this possible on Wordpress and if so how?

If not, what is the easiest way I can add these features to a website? I do have some coding knowledge.

Thanks.

1 and 3 are built into wordpress natively.

4, I'm pretty sure you can get as a plugin - http://wordpress.org/plugins

2 and 5 - if there's not a plugin for it, someone can make one for you.

You might want to look into the plugin smember. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/s2member/

You could actually have someone code you a nice little system if you wanted to spend some money - and not millions of dollars either.

Wordpress can do anything. Some folks just don't understand it.

Everything you want is in the Buddypress plugin with the exception of the ecommerce component. The good news is there are ecommerce plugins, the bad news is it will probably take some time to see if one will work with your "vision" for the site. If one does not fit your needs you may be able to hire a freelancer to write one that does. The main difficulty I see is in doing individual reporting of ecommerce transactions, as each would need to have their own merchant account or paypal account to recieve payment from customers, and recieve payout. You could also consider a "classifieds" plugin.

Sounds like you need a CMS more geared towards your website requirements.

For example, you may be better of using an eCommerce content management system instead of Wordpress, many have all the functionality that you require already built in and can be as easily setup and configured just like Wordpress.

Actually more is possible than you might think with wordpress, however for what your after I'd recommend something like Drupal. The learning curve is a bit steeper but it's far more powerful and has many many plugins available.

You probably will need to do a bit of custom coding, but its standard php -> mysql stuff. You can self teach pretty easily.
