Its like looking for a needle in a haystack, I spent a lot of my own time looking for a good free web host only to find that with free always comes some restriction. Usually its in the way of no FTP access, no database support, file size upload limits and also of course the favorite thing of all adverts all over the place. If your considering free you would be better to run your own web server and invest the time in the setup of a small system on your own pc. You will still have limitations depending on your ISP but they will be far less annoying that any i have yet seen with a free web host. Most of the time if your really serious about web hosting your better to spend around $9 a month and get a professional paid web hosting plan. In the end it will save a lot of time and frustration for you and your site visitors. I have a good range of web hosting providers on my website with user reviews and most cost under $10 a month.

I think Free services not good for long term. In case of web hosting, Free web hosting not good, not reliable. If you serious about your business then you must pay a small amount to save your website and visitors. Your website goes downward due to the free hosting. So all hard work useless. Infect Search Engine also don't like the free web hosting sites and don't rank up. My suggestion only that pay and save your hard work with your business.

Technical Specifications for Your Website Hosting

The first thing you need to do when shopping for a web host is to evaluate your disk space and bandwidth needs. If your site will feature a lot of graphics, dozens of pages and get a lot of traffic, you're going to need decent amounts of bandwidth and disk space. Unlimited plans are available, and they make life easier. If your site is going to be simple and not generate a huge amount of traffic, you should be able to get away with smaller amounts of disk space and bandwidth.

Keep compatibility in mind, too. In the excitement of looking for a website hosting provider, you might overlook one critical thing: the type of operating systems that are supported. You're not going to want to switch operating systems, so double-check this point before settling for a provider.

Reliability and availability are critical characteristics to consider when shopping around for web hosting. The best web hosting providers offer availability rates of 98 and 99 percent. This is frequently referred to as “Uptime”. It's easy to make such claims, though, so make sure to see if they make good on their promises.

Security is also an essential concern. Choosing a web hosting provider without learning about its available security features is a big mistake. Things like firewalls, daily backups and user authentication should all be included. It's also nice to receive notifications whenever changes are made because they can alert you to suspicious activity.

I have tried with several web hosting providers. Godaddy, ipage, hostinggator, youwebhost.com, worldcheapestwebhosting.com, As a 10 years continuous experience finally chose the 2 providers. You should try 1 month and see the difference. Their services are remarkable. When you have trouble, you have several options. (call, email, chat, Helpdesk,....) I just put the questions and wait 1 minute. Answer is on the screen on the other minute. Also you can create your web site within a minute. All the free softwares are on the Control panel. All are totally free..

I agree with the above user, you will not find a free web host as long as it uses commercial products.

I suggest you learn mysql(which works seamlessly with PHP).

http://findmyhosting.com will list some really cheap hosting..

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukenden/

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

DiscountASP.net isn't free but it's only $10 per month.

I don't think you'll find a better value. This is a very full featured, easy to manage site provider.

Microsoft Access is free. SQL server and MySQL are available for an extra fee.

I would recommend you http://freewebdot.com.

To the stupid guy that said to use open source software please remind the donkey that ASP.NET is from Microsoft and only runs in IIS.

The old version of ASP is supported in Apache if you use chillisoft.

Anyway its your call if you want to use ASP.NET or PHP.

Just check freewebdot.com and they are charging now $5 a month. I will double check this as when I first used it it was free.

For me it does not matter as I always use my own servers and cable modem connection.

Cheers!
