Adobe Flash uses Action Script (AS), the latest version of AS is AS3 which is similar in many ways to C# and Java. AS3 is a good starting language and certainly worth learning before other languages such as C++ which is much harder to learn. You can use a free program called Flash Develop to create Flash Content or other programs like Adobe Flash Creative Suite or Adobe Flash Builder. The claims made by the other posters about Flash are almost all wrong. You can use Adobe Flash to build content for iOS by building it with Adobe AIR, the same goes for Android, Linux, OSX and Windows. HTML5 has far from replaced Adobe Flash, it has many problems and will not be a completed standard until 2020, HTML4 was also supposed to kill Adobe Flash and didn't, HTML just doesn't have the cross-platform thing nailed yet. Just to add, Apple claimed that Flash content ran through the web plugin would kill the batteries to fast on their devices, something that Android has never had a problem with. And if your still not sold, AS3 is an ECMA Script based language and so is Java Script which is used to program HTML5, making them identical!

I wouldn't waste your time learning anything to do with Flash. Learning flash now would be like going to school and learning how to be a typewriter repair man.

When a terribly bad company who make terribly insecure products whose name is the same as a green or red fruit that falls from a tree (apple) got big they refused to allow Flash on their mobile devices because their ripoff app store would lose money, Flash started dying, luckily their is a solution, it is called HTML5.

Using HTML5 you can do a whole bunch of things that were previously only available in flash such as animation.

I would advise that you use that.

ActionScript. But I'd suggest learning the basics of C/C++ first. Then ActionScript will be very easy to pick up and you'll understand a lot about what goes on in the background.
